Giving Mambo a spiffy new coat
PARRY SOUND - Mambo the moose made a safe arrival to his new home outside the Whistle Stop on Tuesday after a long trip from Toronto. The four-year-old fiberglass giant was brought to the region by Lynne Atkinson and her partner Larry Popper, owners of the Church Street business.
The moose had been a part of Toronto’s Moose in the City program that took place for approximately 10 years. With all that considered, Ms Atkinson said Mambo is in excellent shape.
“Aside from a few little cracks, he’s in great condition, he just needs to be sanded down a bit,” said Ms Atkinson. “It was such a thrill to see the looks on people’s faces as we were driving up here.”
To get Mambo ready to properly greet the tourists and residents of Parry Sound, several art students with the Parry Sound Station Gallery will get the chance to give him a spiffy new coat of paint that’s been generously donated by The Colour Centre said Mambo will likely be given a fresh coat of exterior latex paint to keep him looking his best during those harsh northern winters.
